I've been converting some Hi8 and VHS cassettes to digital. I'd like to be able to add some minor effects as well as trim and combine files.

Currently I've been using the trim function in photos on windows to trim, but it's a bit goofy and very basic.

Thanks

I use Pinnacle.
It's not professional grade but for the casual use, it's just fine.

I use OPENSHOT for all my video editing. Now for effects on specific clips I use CANVA
I clip the parts that I want effects for then upload into canva. Add an effect then export it out then add into video. Now there are probably better ways to do this but this is free.
Openshot has some effects but I'm not sure exactly what you want to do.

Thanks y'all.

Effects like adding a banner, fading, just some simple stuff.

For super simple things I used to use Windows movie maker. I like the Windows 7 version better but there is a Windows 10 version.

The biggest PITA for me is burning the edited video to DVD

I believe Windows 10 version was $10.00 when I bought it last.
