I’m starting a new construction business and need to purchase a new laptop. I Don’t know much about laptops and I think I could get away with a basic model. I think I’ll only need it for the following…Excel, Adobe Pro to view and mark up plans, quick books, possibly a Cad viewer, a online Project management app, and emails.
Also I want to get a docking station and monitor for the house. Which PC will last and suffice for the cost?

Lenovo and get it specs to suit you.

Dell's business line and Lenovo's business line are both good products.
I have an HP; I would never recommend their home laptops but the business line seems to be perfectly fine.
We've gotten to acquiring ASUS laptops as of late in the IT Department. They can get very powerful while remaining very thin.
On a side note, you're in construction - does this laptop need to be rugged?

Then any of those should be good. Just avoid unnecessary additions, keep the specs to what you want, and if you're around areas with a lot of dust just be aware of how to maintain it.
If you are going to carry it around a lot, a lightweight one will be really nice. You may not notice at first, but even if a few extra lbs doesn't bother you I've found the thin ones are also much easier to pull out of backpacks quickly.
