Awesome thread OP. So let me get this straight:

- Goes to messageboard asking for advice on Lumens that he could have easily just googled.

- Gets advice from people that doesn't match what he wants to hear.

- Decides that he trusts anonymous reviews on a website notorious for fake reviews over the people on the message board that have experience with the tech involved.

Why the hell did you make this thread? So we'd be impressed you were going to by a POS projector and chill in the back yard of your trailer park?

Did you even read the thread
Asked advice originally planning on buying the unheard brand on amazon. Then after reading some of the responses ended up going with the more trusted name brand through Best Buy even though the price is double.

Try to keep up

Thanks for the reply though.

And yes without the thread I would have no doubt bought the piece of shite on amazon
So the thread has proven helpful.

Also, no I will be projecting the movies on your moms stretched out bingo wings at the sugar bowl crack motel in Houma and charging .67 admission

The Epson is a decent starter on a tight budget. Personally, I would never use it outside as air moisture is a killer for LCD's. They are not in a sealed area and in humid environments can develop mildews on the substrate. You would be better off looking at an inexpensive Optoma DLP projector such as the HD143X. About the same price as the Epson, but Optoma is known for not over-stating their lumens specs and Epson is never believed by anyone that knows and deals with projectors regularly.

Plus, the model Epson you mentioned is several years old, and is only 720p native, so 1080 HD will be compressed into 720p. The Optoma is native 1080p.

One thing to be wary of is on those hot/humid/cold nights.

I have a friend that does exactly what you are talking about.

We tried to watch some UFC fights outside and when he brought the projector from out of the house it fogged up like crazy and wasnt usable. We had used it several times before that. Its not the best but its pretty cool to just sit around a fire and watch a game.

So just acclimate it outside a few hours before you want to use it

y’all really went in on OP. He was just asking for advice on a cheapo projector to watch football outside. It made me laugh though.

It does always amaze me - there’s a legitimate expert for everything on TD!
