Problem with a Windows 10 PC on Startup

Just thought I would ask if anyone else has had this problem. My work PC, an HP ZBook with Windows 10 is acting crazy. When I start it up it initially displays the Windows icon and the little dots going around in a circle but then it goes dark and will proceed no farther. I've tried restarting it multiple times, have shut it down, unplugged it and removed then replaced the battery and it keeps doing the same thing.
It's not a big deal, if it's fried my company will replace it but I'm just curious if anyone here has run across this problem before

Try booting up in Safe Mode

I've had my hands on a few devices in the last few months that got murdered by a Windows update. No clue what it was, specifically, but restarted after an update and sticks in some flavor of boot loop. Can't even get them to boot in safe mode or from a thumb drive.

Exactly. It's turned many laptops into bricks
