Wasn't sure if this board or the travel board was the best place to ask this. But I'm heading to Italy for two months this summer and will be working remotely. Our lodging will have wifi, but would like to have a personal hotspot just in case. DOes anyone have any experience with these products? Recs for plans, devices, etc?

Does "lodging" mean an AirBnB or a Marriott? The problem with using hotspots (including using your phone to tether, which isn't a problem if it's plugged into power the whole time) is that you're going to hit data limits.

I personally wouldn't worry about it, and for sure would not buy a discrete device for it. If the Wifi in your locale goes down, you can download an eSIM on your phone very quickly, and use the phone to tether for a day or two.

Here is an example of how you can get 10GB that is good for 30 days (once activated.) O2 and Orange are all over Europe and as top tier as AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are in the US.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. Yep, we'll be using an AirBNB as a base but will be traveling around some as well. Thanks again!
