Anyone have any experience with an OTA DVR? Looking for something for the house. I dont really need one with 4 tuners or anything.

I have used a Tablo for the last four years. The model I have is outdated but it works great. The features get better with every update. The one catch is that a monthly subscription fee is required for advanced features that many folks want. Overall, though, I think it is a very good product.

Find an old arse laptop or mini-computer and get a lifetime plex pass. It works well paired with a duo connect.

do you want 5.1 audio? Do you care about 1080i60 being compressed to 720p30?

I dont have a surround sound system, but could see one in the future. I currently use one of the original Yamahs sound projectors with 20 something speakers.
I guess I would like to keep the audio/video quality of the original broadcast.

Then don't use a networked DVR. Get a standalone that plugs directly into your viewer with HDMI.

I’ve been using the Tablo Dual Lite. You have to have an external storage device to record to. Some of the other ones have built in storage but this one works fine for me. The TV guide for it requires a subscription if you want it to show more than 24 hours of the guide
