new Roku is creating wifi problems

I got a Roku for Christmas and was able to connect it to my wifi but now my phone can't get internet on wifi. I've tried resetting the router and modem, I forgot and re added the network on my phone too. I don't use wifi for anything else. Its like I can only have one device on wifi at a time. Any solutions?

Test your phone's wifi access with the Roku on and off, that will let you know if that's actually the problem. If it is it seems odd and I'd call Roku, maybe you got a bad unit that's interfering with other signals.
Another thought that comes to mind is IP addresses and your router. You might log into the router interface and see what IP addresses it's assigned your phone and Roku. If for whatever reason it gave them the same IP addresses that would cause internet access issues for sure. Make sure it's set to Dynamic IP addresses (DHCP) and you aren't using Static IP addresses.

Figured out the problem. I had maximum number of connections on my router set at 3 and I was thinking that was just for wifi but its all devices. I have my desktop and Playstation hardwired into it so had to change it to 4. Everything works now.

quote:Holy shite. Three? I have, right now, 30 devices on my router showing. Just at my desk, alone, I have five devices on it.
