New Laptop and Docking Station- timeouts

My previous laptop on a docking station, after timing out, I jiggle the mouse and the external monitors come up and I login and all good. Normal wonderful operation.
New laptop, new docking station, same monitors keyboard mouse, now when it times out, a jiggle of the mouse doesn't bring it up. I have to actually open the laptop, then I can login with external keyboard and mouse, then I can close it, and then it projects to the monitors, but then I have to login again, but at least I'm logging in on the displays instead of the laptop.
Win10.
What setting can I alter to fix this?

I have had issues with Windows power saving mode shutting down USB (on mobo) hubs to save power. It hasn't happened in a year or so, but if you look in Device Manager, you'll see a bunch of USB hubs. Right click on the hubs and click on the power management tab. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." I don't have a docking station, but you're probably going to have to look at multiple iterations of "power saving" on the laptop as well as the docking station.
All of the USB ports don't necessarily run off of the same USB hub depending on what chipset your laptop uses. For instance, on my desktop, I have 3 USB host controllers, 2 USB hubs, a Superspeed USB hub, and 3 USB Root hubs.
Also, not all your USB ports are the same. Some can provide power, some can't, etc. Try plugging your docking station into a different port on the laptop.

Thanks for the info, I have now done all of this. Hopefully it works. I'll be back later to bitch more if it doesn't.

I finally cracked the code!
Jiggling the mouse doesn't wake it up, but if I click the mouse.. The Great Awakening!
I just wanted to follow up here for anyone else that might be searching this same issue later.
