Kid just went off to college and wondered how hard would it be for her to log into plex from her laptop to watch movies? Is there anything to do on my end? I have the plex server setup at home and everybody just logs in from roku at the house . What do i need to do to get her up on plex? Any advice would be appreciated?

Just like Netflix. Add her as a user with her own account so her viewing won't mess up yours or anyone else's movies and TV series progress.
ETA you'll also want to adjust the settings in Plex for streaming over the internet. I had to tweak mine and ask my friends how the playback looked until I had them dialed in.

Yeah it's possible to use plex local only without an account and using plex.tv but you likely can use it remotely already exactly the way you have it now. You'll get better performance if you open up a port on your router. Forget the specific one but it's like 3819 or something random. You can look it up, should be easy to find.

Do you have plex pass? Now if your main account has the plex pass then its best to login that account on multiple PORTABLE devices outside of your home network.

How do you look it up. People have trouble with playback outside of my network and I’ve never been able to figure this out.

You also have to open a port and activate port forwarding for the IP address of the Plex server on your router.
