Local computer repair recommendations?

I have a Macbook Pro and like a dumbass, I put my wife's Photos library on a WD MyCloud hard drive (wireless). It worked fine for about a year but now I can't access the library on the external drive.

It gives me an error "These items cannot be added to your Photo library because the file format is not supported by Photos."

I can click on the file and see all of the original photos in the Masters folder but the Photos application can't open the file so I can't get to any of her edited photos.

I've talked to Apple support a few times and they've said that they're sending the issue to the engineers but nothing has come of it.

I'm to the point that I want to bring the MacBook Pro, the WD MyCloud hard drive, and a new WIRED hard drive to a local place to see if they can get it working. Any suggestions?
