I don't follow tv technology much, but I will never go back to using flat monitors

because the ribbon isn't tiny and isn't sightly, and the fact that the tv has to be connected to that ribbon. Plus the design is such that drilling out a wall is required to realize the primary selling point of the tv (which means that your tv is not really free to live anywhere)

Better a ribbon cable than an HDMI (or multiple HDMIs if you aren't smart enough to switch through a receiver) and a dedicated power outlet.

Yea, when you're sitting directly in front of a curved tv, like you would a monitor, I guess it provides some small benefits. Other than that it's a waste of money

The only issue I see is viewing angle. With most TVs mounted high above a mantle, This would be an issue with no tilt.
