So my eyes/ head still a little sore from using my monitor in the old settings for about an hour, but I'm fairly certain that HDMI mode setting fixed it. Programs are back to normal scale and in focus. Lol.
FWIW VABuckeye the manual that was included in the box was just a very basic like 2 page set up manual. There was another manual online, I never read the whole thing.
