My 2013 MacBook pro died yesterday due to water damage. I'm in the middle of a bunch of stuff and can't afford another macbook right now. I use it mainly for basic internet and email stuff, and watching streaming stuff on hulu.
Would a cheap chromebook be my best option? I've never used one, but they seem cheap, which is good.

Yes.
I must say I bought a refurbed Acer Chromebook for less than $150.00 and I'm pretty happy with it for very basic functions.
