laptop for work rec

I'm looking for the best laptop for work around $1000 (or preferrably a little less). I do not run any intensive applications like CAD or photoshop or anything - just basic office functions of browser, word processor, Acrobat, excel, etc. (usually at same time). I want this to replace my current desktop PC via docking and be portable enough to throw in a small bag to take home at night. The XPS 15 seems like the ideal, but is somewhat more than I am hoping to spend. I prefer a 14 or 15" screen if possible, but i could be talked out of that. Any recommendations would appreciated.
