I've been looking at getting a new 65in tv and noticed this deal today. Is this a good tv and deal?

change that RU in the middle of model # to TU. Those are Samsungs model year designations. UN type of type, 65 size of TV, RU Model year, 8000 is the series, the rest is just filler garbage at the end

FWIW, I bought the 7 series in a 50 inch, 4k UHD back in the spring, and it is awesome. Not sure what the model year matters, but mine is a 2020 and came with Disney+ loaded on it. Kids love it, has a great picture, and is super slim to mount on the living room wall.

I looked at that one as well but that one only has 60hz refresh rate and the RU has 120hz.

Samsung says it’s 120. It’s rare they will downgrade on a series progression. Very very rare. Not saying it’s a better tv for you. Just letting you know what’s out there.

Samsung downgraded their entire lineup this year just fyi. What you are saying about year over year is not the case in the television industry, often times older models are better than newer models such as the case here. In fact, the 2018 NU8000 is better than all of them combined for example.

The TU series are both 60Hz, the RU8000 is 120Hz. Only the RU8000 has a wide color gamut as well, crucial for HDR otherwise you don't actually have HDR.

The RU8000 is better than both by a decent margin.

This is an LG, not a Samsung, but how would you say this TV is for 4K/HDR/PS4/PS5?

The RU8000 in the OP is quite a bit better. Those LG's use an IPS panel.

Unless it’s OLED, I would stay away from LGs since they use IPS panels (which creates shitty contrast)

BestBuy deal of the day is the 65" Q60R today for $749. Lasts through midnight. LINK

Jump on it if you want a TV that blows anything in this thread out of the water.
