We've had our XR phones for several years now. I think over 3 years, and my wife finally cracked her screen. Any ballpark pricing for a screen replacement? Phone still works, and we're thinking about a couple of options. Cheapest would be just replace the screen, but our oldest has an iPhone 8, so we're thinking of doing a trade in on that one, fixing the screen on my wife's, and giving it to our teenager, then getting my wife either an 11 or a 12. The main difference I see between the two are 5G and whatever the ceramic shield front is. As long as we typically keep them, I'm thinking the price difference for the 12 with the 5G is worth it.

there's a place here in town that will fix screens for like $65 if you get to know them.

(i have a wife and 2 girls with iphones so I GOT TO KNOW THEM WELL)

not sure about the xr; i would guess around $100.

to their credit, the phone screens looked good as new and they put a glass protector on for free so the next time the screen shattered its just the protector and they take it off and put a new one on for like $10

Yeah, I'm not sure why she didn't have the glass protector on there. If I had known she took the last one off I would have ordered some more and put one on. There's a UbreakIfix place I'm going to take it to tomorrow morning. If it isn't much more than $100 it will be worth it. I might try to replace it myself if it is higher than that. Kits on Amazon are around $50.

pay the extra $50 and let someone do it who does it dozens of times a day

things like this aren't worth the learning curve and chance you mess something up.

The new Iphone SE 3rd generation came out a few weeks ago. It's 5G with same processor as the Iphone 13. MSRP is $429 but there are deals to be had. Shop around. If you're a Virizon or AT&T customer Walmart has the SE for $252. Best buy will add $100 to your trade in value.

I wonder if you singed up for Ausrion plus home protection if they would fix it for cheap then you could cancel. They work through uBreakiFix. Maybe try calling them to ask about that?

It may be 20-25 a month, but still could be cheaper and they are professional.
