that doesn't have sound. Sound will play through headphones or bluetooth to external speakers. I have and appointment at the apple store to have them check it out. The sound stopped working when it was about 2 years old. Any chance apple will make it good? Or will they recommend (of course the will) for me to buy a new one?

They might make good or they might explain the iPad should not be dipping in water? Also they don't make commission so if they do recommend buying an evil "new one" they may just be saying "hey this is a working model and the one we are currently selling"

You can always sync your iPad to a Bluetooth speaker in the mean time

Yes it is a little old. I didn't give much thought to bringing it to apple when it stopped working because I had another tablet as backup. I screwed up, I should've brought it back then. But my take is, even though its old, apple markets their shite as premium devices, the best, so even though its 4 years old, they should at least be able to hook me up with a refurb model. I'd be cool with that, I just want the damn thing to work. People pay a lot of money for apple shite.

I upgraded from the 3rd generation to the 9.7 pro and it made worlds of difference. The Air 2 would be a huge upgrade as well.

4 years old? I hope to God they wouldn't.. they'll have to factor your charity into the cost of my next Ipad by needing a bigger margin for all the moochers looking for handouts. They offer AppleCare and Squaretrade offers warrantys as well. Things break and go bad.
