For group messages, I've struggled for a long time with texts on a Motorola phone, using ATT as the carrier. For over a year, I've been getting missed text notifications and "unable to send" issues. If "Billy Baroo" posts in a group message and it doesn't go through, the unable to receive message isn't in the group text. It is sent in the individual text message with Billy Baroo. Individual texts with Billy are almost always OK.

I've always assumed that it's my phone itself, but I recently installed "Android Messanger" on my laptop and it's having exactly the same issue. It can't be the phone itself. Is it just an issue with Android getting fricky with Apple phones in group texts?

Did you ever have an iPhone before? If you didn't turn off iMessage before putting in the sim to a droid you could experience issues. Thats all I got

My last iphone was about 4 years ago, but I may have used the same SIM card to make it work. I also just discovered that the Messanger program I'm using on my computer is just being fed via my phone (i.e. if I shut my phone off, everything goes blank on the laptop version). I'm gonna get a new SIM card and cross my fingers.

I don't think the imessage issue is with the SIM specifically. I think it's that in apple's imessage DB they have your number as an iPhone and therefore try to send via that protocol instead of sms/mms. You have to go tell Apple to cut that shite out. I've heard some people have had issues with it even after doing so. It's a pretty common conspiracy theory that Apple intentionally make iPhone -> Android group messages absolute shite to scare users off android and back to iPhone.
