I phone backup

Thinking about getting an IPhone 8 this weekend. I have never backed my current phone to cloud or a computer. Tried to back up to cloud but it’s taking hours. Should I just back it up to a computer?

The initial backup will always take a long time. They are much shorter after that. Just be patient and let it do it's thing.

If you have enough space in your icloud account for a back up you should backup to the cloud. Once it's set up it should backup every night automagically. That way if your phone ever dies you'll only lose a day's worth of photos and messages.
