Yeah. Not sure what your running. The only AC power that runs up our towers is for our beacons and side lights. All four of the major carriers in the US convert AC over to DC for powering their RRUs and FXFBs in either their RBS3102 ,3106 or in the FCOA. Verizon is the only carrier that uses primarily a shelter and even they convert their power for their AWS solution. They all use rectifiers and strings of 24 volt batteries to accomplish this. In some cases they convert to a +24 volt, sometimes a -24 volt or even in some cases a -48 volt. SPRINT and ATT both use the Ericsson RRUs that only come in a DC model. Verizon is using the Kathrein Air 21 due to the lack of Air 32 Antennas. Which both have internal DC powered RRUs. TMO uses all DC equipment that is powered past the COVP that is powered by the rectifiers in the FCOA. That only leaves a few minor carriers which would include Southern Link and Clearwire. Which Clearwire has always used DC power and Southern Link has no powered equipment on the tower. In fact they mainly still use Omnis since they are iDen. So I don't know where you get your "shite" from, but it isn't on any towers here in the US unless your a HAM operator. Tell me a carrier that you are working for and I can give you the specs. Even microwave hops use DC power.

I don't work for a cell carrier. I work for a small wireless ISP, we use Alvarion, Trango, and now mostly Ubiquiti equipment. We have power over ethernet injectors that plug into standard 110a/c at the bottom.
