How do I set up PIP on my tv?

I've got Cox cable. Is there a setting on the cable box that I can use to split the screen or do I have to physically split the input source. I've only got 1 HDMI port on my cable box. Thanks.

I think most of the boxes have a PIP function

You need two sources.
