How can I close a gmail account and still be able to view emails on PC?

Hello all,
I currently use gmail, and I want to close out the gmail account. Of course, I don’t want to lose access to years of emails - So I would like something that stores all the emails on my PC hard drive and is compatible with Windows 10 so I can view these emails without needing internet access (no cloud storage). I’m not worried about calendars or anything else, just the emails currently on gmail. I’ll be using another email to send and receive new emails. Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks.

You can probably sync with Outlook or Thunderbird on you PC, which will store the emails on your PC and let you view/search through them in the Outlook or Thunderbird client. I would pick one and google how to sync it with Gmail.
