Is Arlo home security system a good value or can you build something yourself for a similiar price that works as well or better?

It's good but you might want to check further details about it. I've seen Piper nv which is quite similar with arlo pro. Only it's cheaper. One thing not so nice about this though is the video resolution.

I bought the Arlo Pro two camera pack for $349 on Black Fri. I seriously considered Blink as it was $100+ cheaper and had 1080p. I can't remember all the reasons I chose Arlo but a couple were support and 2 way communication. Although, I believe Amazon just bought Blink recently so that should add even more to them. I almost wish I would've waited since I still haven't installed my cams yet since we haven't moved in yet.
