Having issues with my Pixel Tablet. May need terminology help.

So my tablet has started to act like it's possessed. Even when just sitting, it's like a ghost is touching the screen. This is after I did a factory reset because it was doing this and, additionally, it wouldn't even let me login from standby because when I'd got to type the code, it would select random other numbers.
I'm assuming this is a screen issue, but I don't know the technical term to start a return/claim.
Any help with the problem and the name of the issue would be appreciated.

The screen is registering being pressed when I'm not pressing it. When I do press it sometimes, it registers hits elsewhere.

Unlikely. It's been on the stand 99% of its life. It started this issue (turning on and spazzing out) while on the stand.
When it was on my night stand, it was on top of 2 other tablets (my old tablet and a kindle paperweight) and neither of those are having issues.
I have Preferred Care, so I might as well file a claim I guess.
