Harmony Elite Issue

So I love the idea and promised functionality… but holy shite am I having a problem.
I have “activities” and “devices” set up and the “activities” are hit or miss if they actually get through the steps/commands and get to where they're supposed to be.
Not only that, the fricking “lag” from when a button is pressed, including things from pause to vol+/- etc. is excruciating.
Sometimes when I press buttons, nothing happens… sometimes when nothing happens, I press it again (or maybe two more times) and it jumps forward 3x…
I realize that it won’t ever be as responsive as the OEM remote, but holy shite it’s almost unbearable…
I’m posting because there’s NO WAY I’m the only one dealing with this and I desperately hope that someone has a settings/firmware update/etc suggestion that can make me not want to return the damn remote…
Please help!

From my experience, the lag issues are due to when devices being controlled by "IP" over your network instead of using IR.
You either need to disable your device for IP control or make sure the Harmony uses IR for those devices. You'll need to google and see how to do this. I haven't had to mess with my setup in a couple years.

There is a troubleshooting section in the app to change the order and delay between steps to address this. It is painstaking to adjust, wait for the remote to get the commands, and try again. In particular, power cycling things is often associated with a "dead" time, so rapidly testing it is a bad idea. The little gear on the top left of the remote will have two options. One is something to the effect of "help, it didn't all work" and will rerun everything. The other is "I will fix it" and it will list each step and let you click what went wrong (you'll have a list of things like 'samsung tv on' 'samsung tv input HDMI 2' 'blu ray player on' etc) with the option to click the exact command that was missed

This is the exception and not the rule in my experience. Are you sure your hub and blasters are in good position? I use a BAFX IR Distribution block (you need a 2.5mm to 3.5mm TRS cable. Any device that accepts a 3.5mm TS or TRS cable for IR codes gets it instead of a blaster. Otherwise, I put an emitted on each device and make sure my hub sends the signal out of the appropriate port (at one point I got crazy and actually used one remote to control three complete "zones" in this manner, but concurrent control is a problem. I do not advice it without understanding the pitfalls)

Generally speaking, my experience was better than an OEM remote once it was set up (you can create macros and access some submenus directly from the Harmony that are absent from the OEM remotes). Obviously, there are exceptions, but that is still my general experience.
Want to bother explaining each device, activity, how it's controlled and the problem you're having?
Most of my problems are when HDMI-CEC "overtakes" IR commands which can generally be 'tweaked' out or problems with a component (usually a receiver) taking too long to turn on and missing the codes to change its inputs
