Which GoPro is the best. Is there a brand that is considered more reasonable than GoPro? Looking to get one but don't want to spend a fortune.

Not to derail, but everyone I've every heard of that had a GoPro has had issues with it. Most of them unrecoverable. Anyone else have issues like that?

For me, GoPro wasnt worth the price. If you just want something to take swimming a few times and want good enough, there are cheaper options.

SooCoo C30 (I have this one) can be had with memory card and extra batteries for about $90 on amazon.

GitUp Git2 is another one to look into. about $120, seems to have better support.

They have a ton of chinese knockoffs available. Dashcam talk forum has a lot of info on the sensors and such each one use. If you're able to lower expectations for price, it's a good trade off in my opinion. Just buy from amazon or something that has easy returns.

I'm completely happy with the quality of pictures and videos from my C30. I don't think a $400 increase would give me that much better results.

I have a LightDow 6000. Other than the charging circuit in the camera not working, it performs great. Bought an external charger and had no issues.

The issues I've seen with GoPros are unrecoverable memory failures (not the card, but the camera couldn't write to the card but you thought you were recording). And failure of the waterproof housing on the camera itself (leaking via the lens) when it's supposed to be waterproof for at least snorkeling. The 2 failures I know of there were both in pools.

Do not waste money on a gopro. Get a knock off for $100 on amazon and the quality is the exact same.
