Yeah Bard is going to make things interesting.

My boy just sold his website for $2,250,000 in the education niche. Was making between $40,000 - $80,000 per month just from display ads.

He sold because of the AI danger coming.

SEO is pretty fun when you find an underserved niche that ranks fast and easy.

Hot damn, that’s awesome. Any idea how long he had to work to get it to 40k/mo?

That’s the million dollar question.

1) there are thousands pumping out content via chatgpt & other ai writers on a mass scale then copy pasting straight to their sites without fact checking or editing. Easy rankings for now, won’t be once google rolls out an update to squash them.

2) Bard & Bing AI may begin taking up real estate above the fold on the search engines. People will use that to search, and push real sites down further. Google is also implementing zero click search results, meaning the answers are right on the front page of google without clicking into a website

the. Ai will just go to your site, rewrite the content and serve it up right on the front page of google with or without credit to you (for example).

Those 2 alone may soon create chaos from top to bottom. No one really knows what’s in store in the coming months.

AI is playing both sides of the fence. Most people are only focused on how easy and cool it is to input a prompt and have it kick out a cool inaccurate article.

Those same folks aren’t paying attention to the role AI is playing for search engines. Could be a gut punch from hell to those recklessly using AI to rank.

Get it while you can.

I think it took around 3 years to cross into six figures a year and then just kept going up from there.

The website was 10 years old.

I tell ya what’s crazy to me

I’ve built a lot of websites and and few of them I didn’t even bother with the Google Search console (Webmaster tools) and they are absolutely dominating the sites where I submitted site maps, etc to google search console . Pisses me off actually lol

I presume it's going to take intellectual property law 15 years to catch up, but there's a reason a lot of consultancies and places like Apple have banned it for business use. If I turned a proposal to a client, and they learned part of it was written by AI, I don't think they'd look kindly on that in the bid process.

While it's going to a pain in the arse to get disclosed by the AI vendors, how do you make DMCA or other takedown claims when you find something you wrote re-packaged, and you didn't submit it to ChatGPT for "use" in helping others be lazy? The recent USSC ruling on Andy Warhol's use of things line the famous Marilyn Monroe shot *not* being covered by Fair Use (7-2, it wasn't close), seems to completely shite on AI generated content that isn't pulled from sources that are under GPL or other open license.

I totally get your frustration with the ever-evolving SEO landscape, especially with Google's continuous updates. It's challenging when you're doing everything right — creating unique city-specific pages — and still not getting the desired results in terms of indexing.
On the topic of SEO, have you considered optimizing image alt texts on your site? This website alt text checker is a handy tool that delves into your site's HTML structure, focusing on image tags and their alt attributes, which are crucial for both accessibility and SEO. It not only counts the images but also collects alt attributes, helping you identify and fix issues like missing alt texts.

I have a service business in the Baton Rouge area and could probably use some SEO tweaking on my site if one of you guys are interested. I'm willing to pay something for it.
