the hardwire kit (at least for viofo 129 & 139) has an inline voltage cut-off when in parking mode so if the battery starts to dip it will shut off rather than drain the battery.
the challenge with that is you have to tap into 2 fuses; one that is continuous/engine power (for parking mode) and one that is only hot when engine is on (to start dashcams in normal mode)
the one thing i'm not sure about is if you have to manually switch it from normal mode to parking mode every time you get in and out of the car. surely not but the youtube video the guy shows how changing it each time he starts and stops the car.
ANYWAY..long story short..start researching where your ACC fuse is and always-hot fuse is. for the mercedes we are looking at, there is only one ACC fuse in the whole vehicle..and its in a fusebox in the rear hatch. all the fuses in the front box are hot all the time.
so there's alot of wire running under trim going on there. i'm guessing the older the car, the easier this part will be.

This is how hard it is to plug in and hook up the Owl Cam... 5 seconds...

What about the rear camera? Does it having parking mode? They looked a little pricey.

They are pricey. It has a built in rear facing camera. It does have a parking mode. They are very well thought out and simple as it gets to hook up. Really like mine.

Anyone have any experience with these?
I had hoped that my dash cam would cut down on all the cussing and other bad stuff I say out loud while driving. But sadly it has not
