So you are anti Sonos Connect Amp ?
when i have a house with ZERO speakers to use with it and no inputs why would i need to add that cost when all i want is a couple of shitty speakers to play audiobooks while i'm changing the fan clutch in my e30?

Ok, I get it now. You are looking for shitty speakers.
How you like your E30 ? I’ve been flirting with getting an E46 or E90 M3 as a toy.

i hated it starting out and now i love it. the bad news is you're buying a 20-30 year old car and its going to have problems. the good news is bmw made so many you can find any part you need for cheap.
its also incredibly easy to work on; i've been restoring mine and if you use the site: realoem.com you can punch in your VIN# and it will tell the exact part numbers for your car so you can find them on the web. bmw is notorious for changing shite in the middle of a model year so without having your exact serial # you may end up buying the wrong part.
thebmwminipartstore.com is a bmw dealer (in georgia i think) who heavily discounts new parts for internet sales and they ship extremely fast.
in fact i usually go with them even comparing against ebay because they are so competitive and i don't mind giving them my business because you can place your ENTIRE order with them instead of 15 different ebay sellers.
the m3 is a bit of a different beast. i would give en eyetooth for an e30 M3 but the prices have gotten ridiculous.
your 'toy' comment is correct. you will eventually get it to the point you can drive it every day but it will take some time to feel comfortable. i've been using a sharpie to date things i've replaced because i had starter issues where the car left my stranded multiple times (a No-Go for the wife) so i kept reading stuff and swapping things out until the issue went away (too stubborn to pay a mechanic to do that) and the upshot is now i have an excel spreadsheet of what i've done.
all in all you cant beat a classic BMW in the 'fun' category and these older models are within reach of the average person because they are generally easy to work on and inexpensive when they are serviced.
i say to go for it.
now if i can just figure out a way to mount a pair of sonos speakers in the back seat...
