So we're in a new house with a less than ideal wall situation in the living room. I refuse to put a TV over the fireplace in any manner.

To the left of the fireplace is a built-in made specifically for TVs that I may have to take some shelves out etc. to fit my TV. Alternatively, I suppose I could make that wall flush with the fireplace.

Anyways, the center line of the wall is probably somewhere between where the built-in and fireplace are, so I'm thinking a full motion mount that can also suspend my sound bar is what I need.

If there are models that will handle the cords better than others and keep them hidden as it extends and goes back would be good to know too.

Appreciate any feedback.

ETA: adding pic, wall to left of windows you can't see is open to kitchen so can't use that.

Any particular reason? Just curious.

Matter of taste, but also in this house it would look particularly bad.

Also it wouldn't be centered anyways to anything. Maybe I should just post a pic.

Gotcha. I have a MantelMount above my fireplace since it was the only spot to put a tv and the room is a bit smaller so we didn't want to look up at the tv.

Your situation is pretty unique though since the tv doesn't fit in the area (and no one in their right mind wants to down size their tv). The problem you will have is support for a large tv that will ALWAYS be extended and can never retract back close to the wall. That is also a pretty large distance to have it extended which will put a lot of stress on the arms that are extended out. IF you went with a mount, look more at designs with multiple arms like this (not advocating one way or the other for that brand, just the design).

You would also probably have limited motion to turn it because of the distance from wall to the front of the cabinet.

Honestly though, you would be much safer with taking out some shelving and finding a way for the tv to fit in the area. I really wouldn't want to rely on a mount extended that far 24/7 with a large tv.

Thanks for the thoughts. Does the mount you linked allow for a sound bar to be mounted with it? My sound bar is directly mounted to the wall now so I'm familiar with how easy it is to do this other way.

Ya, that depth seemed like an issue.

I think I'm willing to wall it in so it's flush with the fireplace and wouldn't put as much stress on the mount arms.

Not sure about the MantelMount but the one I linked does fit a sound bar. Mine has a Sonos Play bar mounted under it.

If that is so important to you why did you buy/build that house?

Built my house last year and purposely did not put in a fireplace because I love my home theater.

Because what you can't see is bad arse

I can handle a little issue like that. Of course if I had designed/built the house myself I would have done that room a little different, but alas, the house has existed for some time.

The particular mount I linked doesn’t but I am sure you can find one like it that does mount.

If you're going to get a full motion mount realize that it's not something you want to go cheap on. When fully pulled out there is a lot of stress on the mounting points and adding a soundbar solution to the mount is going to increase that stress even more.

Ya, I was planning on paying good money since it will be permanent.

Got any brand suggestions?

I bought a full motion articulating mount last year for my back patio. It holds a 65" tv and can swing it anywhere it needs to be. I researched like crazy and found this company. It is based in North Louisiana and I called to tell them my exact needs and I spoke with the owner of the company. He is the guy in all of the videos on their website.
