Flash drive stopped working

Same thing happened on two computers so it's the drive, not the computer.
Worked yesterday.
Drive is detected, can view and copy files but freezes when I try to write files to the drive.
Scanned, no errors.
Will not let me format drive.
Any ideas what's happening? Thanks in advance

They have a finite number of writes possible then they are basically read only for a short time then total failure
