If a flash drive dies, is there any way to get the data off of the drive? Looking for a business or service that can recover data.

My senior son @ LSU didn't back up all of his files. They were all on this drive.

You can send it to a service like Drive Savers...but be prepared for some sticker shock.

Looks like there are a few places that you can send your drive to online. Anything local (Baton Rouge area)?

I have only ever sent stuff to Drive Savers... So I have no experience with others. I don't know of anyone locally.

I am an IT guy - but no expertise in data recovery from a USB. I have had luck using my Mac for clients/friends when a PC won't read. Sometimes a different machine will read it...

If you're in BR, I can give you a $200 discount coupon for Drive Savers as I am in their affiliate program. They send me these periodically.

Call them and ask for a quote:1-800-440-1904

There are programs online that you can try. I think SanDisk has one that I used to recover the files from a flash drive.

I own both...
They each have a purpose.

If it's a SanDisk or Western Digital drive, they have a high failure rate problem right now. Check this link.
