We're in the middle of a kitchen & bathroom remodel so I thought this was a great opportunity to put my money where my mouth is and order 12 of those WiFi FEIT can lights from Costco. $70 for a 4-pack so fairly reasonable pricewise for lights as good as these. These are replacing the old 'eyeball can' lights which I never cared for. Seven new ones in the kitchen alone (see below).

Good
- Best and brightest whites of any smart lights I've installed. I mean the light is really good. Even the wife who hates my smart crap addiction was very happy with the white level controls (2600 - 5000k). Good lighting in all tunable ranges.
- Alexa integration took all of 2 seconds so now they can be voice dimmed and set to 'soft white' or any other color without having to pick up a phone.
- Great looking facade
- Easy to install, just screw in A19 connector and compress the springs and it sucks into place in the can housing
- Setup of bulbs in app was mostly trouble-free* *see below and I paired them one-at-a-time
- Setting up groups was easy and I already set an LSU routine for purple/gold
- Colors are brighter and more vibrant than hue but i set up a group in alexa that includes the hue (the island lights) and when i set the colors in alexa they all match well; i think the downlights are just more powerful and brighter.

Not so good
- Some of the lights didn't go into pairing mode right away and to get it into pairing mode you have to flip the switch 4x which will..guess what...unpair all the ones you already had setup. I grabbed a lamp and just plugged them into it to pair them before i installed them in the cans.
- I got a little crazy with the strobe and 'color cycle' effects and the bulbs got all out of kilter. i don't expect to ever use that feature anyway but the WiFi causes delays I guess in getting the commands from the FEIT cloud so syncing them to a color cycle was a disaster.
- I switched light switches (the old ones had dimmers and that causes problems with smart bulbs) and when i turned them back on they all went back into pairing mode the good news is i just clicked 'pair lights' in the app and they all came right back including their names so no real harm here.
- Did i mention the cloud yet? I don't care for cloud-based smart things but can lights rarely do much beyond turning on so i am not too worried.

So considering I can return the entire batch to costco at any time if I decide they suck and only costing $15/ea for color and tunable white for what are essentially 'turn on and forget' lights I'm very happy.

i tend to agree but given how i'll probably almost never change the color and at a price point competitive with the non-tunable lights at box stores, why not go with lights that can do alot more than just turn on?

CAD why not buy 4pk br30 color bulbs from sylvania for 25 bucks instead then you could use with hubitat locally and save some money

there's a reason they are so cheap

have you used the sylvania lights before? i have a drawer full of BR30s i will be happy to sell you. they are underwhelming at best. constantly going offline and giving me the red/green/blue flash when i turn them on that makes me want to punch babies in the face.

also i was replacing EYEBALL lights so i needed the whole facade.

finally i hate the look of bulbs in can lights; an integrated look that combines light and housing looks way more high end IMO.

Any reason other than cost you like this over Hue + a lutron Aurora switch?

i wish i could afford lutron throughout my house. love their products but just too expensive to replace everything with casetas.

and yeah, at $60 a pop the value proposition for the hue downlights doesn't make sense to me.
