I am terrible at tech stuff, and tried googling, YouTube, compressing/unzipping, etc etc

Trying to email old family videos from an ancient laptop through gmail. I was able to send the ones which were mvi/avi, but am having no such luck with the mpg ones.

What’s the easiest way to convert or send to an iPhone?

Easiest route would probably be uploading to a new folder in google drive and sharing that link with intended recipients

Yeah, pretty sure that’s what I did (and what I’ve done before with other videos).
But with these mpg videos, they won’t open in Files on my iPhone for some reason.

Here’s a screenshot of a couple attempts from earlier

The MVI movies work, but the MOV files are just blank

One of those MOV is a ZIP, which is an archive/compression format. Can you save the videos to your photo library or go up a directory in Files and make sure you’re accessing from google drive?

Yeah, one is a zip because I tried that route for a couple as well, but nothing works for the MOV formatted ones.

They downloading extremely quickly through google drive, so I know something is off due to that. They still show they’re 6.7 MB, 24.8 MB, etc but when I try to save them or open/view them, I just get empty thumbnails

You need to download VLC.
