Thought this was interesting.
I'm not familiar with security, so does this compete with existing devices?

"The device, which looks like an external battery case, has a tiny screen that would tell a user if the phone is still sending out GPS, cellular, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signals when the device has been turned off. Snowden had warned in a 2014 NBC interview that some malware could make an iPhone appear to be switched off even when it’s still sending out signals."

I'm all for the principle of not being tracked but this dipshit's reasoning is totally distorted. "Activists and journalists" come on… shouldn't it be "everyday citizens" instead.

Terrorists are the ones who will get the benefits of this. I swear the more this guy says the more I think he was a Russian double agent all along. He's a traitor and should be hanged for killing and endangering so many American lives.

Imsi catchers get the metadata that is constantly streaming from all cell phones and can get whatever information off any phone in range. Anything your phone has can be accessed. Cam and speakers turned on, voicemails heard, text messages sent and received. Scary to think about. If you have the money, anybody can go online and get Imsi catcher. I think it would be beneficial to know if phone has unwanted monitoring.

If there's another battery (or a supercapacitor), it's possible to remove the first battery, but then the question becomes "with two batteries, can they be hot-swapped?", which is quite a different question. So - no, without a source of power, it is not possible to draw power necessary for functioning, certainly not longer than a few seconds. Now, the real question appears to be "is it possible to hide another battery inside the device?
