Nextlink has fiber a mile and a half away from my house, but won't run it any further towards my area. I'm guessing because we are all spaced out a bit more where I'm at and there aren't enough houses to make it worth their time.

My best option right now is line of sight with 50/10. The 50 is enough for me to do whatever I need to do, but the upload speed isn't. I work through a VPN and the VPN automatically pulls between 7 and 10 upload leaving nothing for me. It's killing me and there are no other options to get the upload higher.

I've been waitlisted for Starlink but curious if anyone has it and what the upload speed is. I can't quite find any real world upload speeds.

Save me Elon.

I used it at a worksite for about 6 months. Was 100x better than the cell network we were using. Never had an outage.

I want to say people start posting their experiences around page 5 or 6.

On the waiting list for over a year now. They launched some more satellites yesterday so maybe sooner than later for me!

I’ve had Starlink since early June 2022.

My upload speeds are around 8-12 Mbps. In 3 speed tests over the last couple of hours, I had 10, 12, and 7 Mbps.

Find the closest person that has fiber and has line of sight with you. The fewer obstructions the better. Offer to pay half their internet bill if they let you set up a microwave link. Put a dish in their yard and one in yours. Look at Cambium Networks or Ubiquiti for hardware. It works through all weather with no signal degradation. 200/20 is easily attainable.

I like that solution but line of sight isn't going to happen unless I get up about 100' off my house to the nearest fiber recipient. And the nearest fiber recipient would have to have a 100' tower also.

8-12 upload isn't much different than what I have now, so I guess upload isn't going to be any better with Starlink. Damn.

I've had Starlink for about a year. Best internet speeds I've had at my rural location (100-200 MB), next best option was DSL (best was 2 MB) which is no longer offered. Price has increased twice $99 to $110 to next month going to $120/month. Cable internet just got piped into the neighborhood and they are offering 1GB speeds for $90. So probably going to try them out and sell my Starlink equipment if it works out.
