I would need to do some reconfiguring of my setup to test but I figured I'd ask someone before I did.

My attena is plugged into my HDHomerun and then that I access via the app on my streaming device. My receiver is showing that I'm receiving a 5.1 signal. I did not realize an antenna was capable of providing that type of audio. Is it just the HDhomerun upmixing a 2.0 stream from the antenna or are we at the point where antennas can receive surround sound?

I would think this is most likely.

Edit: I'm dumb.

Yes, OTA is capable of 5.1 audio as long as you get the audio from the Optical out port or the HDMI (ARC) port on the back of the tv.

Antenna has nothing to do with 5.1 It all has to do with the processing of the signal once the antenna delivers it to your device.
