Hi, my son is working on a project here, we're stumped.

Used Dell 3080 rtx from Jawa, going on an Asus z790 mb, w an i9 12900 cpu.
For perspective, we also have an Alienware Aurora R13 with a 3080.

We have replaced the fans on the gpu, since one was audibly humming. That's good now.

Doing a Furmark on 1440 settings, can't seem to dial this in. With 1mm pads, we get gpu temps in the low 70s, vram temps around 103-105.

1.5mm, the Vram is in the 60s, but the gpu temp is 83.

Fps sits where it should, around 115 or so.

Using noctua paste, and arctic pads

Help, suggestions? I'm thinking the lower vram temp means 1.5mm pads are good, we were trying to get that down

For reference, he took the other dell 3080 out of the alienware, put it on that asus board, gpu was low 70s and vram in 80s.

Edit for info.

Update- he repasted and reseated everything.

We now about 10 minutes into furmark, temps holding.

Gpu is 74
Hotspot 89
Vram 92
110 fps
Fans are 67%

This seems to be within acceptable ranges.

Seems like you got it fixed?

I'm going to presume temps still holding at these levels if you haven't posted anything new.
