how old is the TV?
Could be 2.4GHZ only
I have a slightly older "smart" TV in a bedroom that doesnt have 5G reception. Luckily my router is dual-band and transmits at both

What 5gig channel is your router on ? Channels 50-144 are shared with some types of radar(dfs channels). To use these the device must do a channel check to make sure the channel is clear. Some devices say screw it(hello roku) and won't try use these shared channels.
If your router/wap is set to 50-144 try changing it to a channel outside this range.

I'm shocked.
Just did a search on Samsung TV 5ghz and some of newer models don't support 5ghz. You may want to do a search on their specific model and look at the specs.
