Converting digital cable tv from sd to hd w/out a provider's box

I recently found out that Suddenlink doesn't come out and disconnect cable tv from many homes in the area when people cancel service or moves out. Folks just run an antenna cord from the wall jack to the tv and watch. It's Suddenlink's basic lineup of channels but in standard def. What piece of equipment can one buy from amazon or wherever to convert these channels to high def.

So, you're unhappy with the quality of your stolen cable?

You can't get the high-def digital signal without a subscription + box.
You can't convert the standard def 480 lines to 720/1080 lines because you can't use anything but magic to pull more lines of resolution out of thin air, and magic isn't real.

Ok thanks. There's Ps vue at the place. Just making sure cord cutting couldnt be taken a step further in this situation.

GKY. And thanks for over and unnecessarily spending your hard earned pennies to support my low to no cost entertainment. And you & your upvoters obviously didn't do any research before your .0001 cent of reply go my post. SL operates fairly shitty in cenla which gives many people free cable. Their agents and clerks will indirectly tell you this.

You're right. Vue and my OTA antenna are excessively extravagant. I should cut back.

I can think of three companies that make devices of which you speak.
1) Silicondust, specifically the HDHomerun prime. 3 tuners
2) Ceton makes Ethernet attached and PCIe adapters. They make 4 and 6 tuner versions.
3) TiVo
All of these will allow you to convert SD video to HD video without a provider's box.
You will, however, have to pay the provider for the content and rent a cablecard for a nominal fee.
Yes, I understand you were actually asking for a subscription-free way to get this. Suddenlink won't allow it.
