If you have an old/spare iOS device with a camera, download Manything on that device, set it up facing what you want to record, then you can view it from anywhere using a browser or iOS/Android device. It even records movement, alerts you of movement, and allows you to block motion sensing in certain areas of the picture(in case of dogs, sun, etc.).
I used this in a pinch a while back with my wife's old iPad and it worked really well.

I have the Foscam linked and have loved it. I had zero experience setting something like this up, but after some patience and visiting a couple forums I was able to get the camera working.
I wasn't thrilled with the Foscam app in iTunes and ended paying like $10 for the "baby monitor for ip camera" app. I highly recommend it. I think it has a free version but if you want all the features you have to pay the money. I found that video quality and camera control worked much better. It also allows you to have 6 preset positions that you can set and go back to with the touch of a button.
