I have an attic antenna + hdhomerun + plexpass.
I love the setup. And for some reason for me the HDHomeRun is better at avoiding tuning errors/dropouts/skipping due to weakness in the signal way better than anything else I've ever used. So even though I have an antenna connection in every room (and they're all coming off of the same powered coax splitter, including the hdhomerun, so shouldn't be that), I pretty much always use Plex to watch OTA TV throughout the house
just watched a couple of videos

holy crap if this works I'm going to be dancing on the roof of my house!
some things have arrived; the hdhomerun has not.

yes i caught that GPS detailing my address right before i uploaded this

Don't worry, you've already given us plenty of information if we want to find you.
I got the 4 tuner PCI card and hopefully I find time this weekend to set it up.

eta and for whatever weirdo reason, amazon threw an HDMI cable into the box with the coax. LOL. I don't get it.
since i have probably 20+ hdmi cables from monoprice in a big bin i don't need it but whatever.

Heading to Lowe's shortly to pick up a chain link fence top rail to use as antenna mast then it's roof time with cad and son.
This may be my last post....

If you live be prepared to be disappointed with what they call a TV guide. They keep pushing back release of a grid view.

Well it's done! Took about 2 hours and my tools slid off the roof about 3x and holy crap my legs are beat to hell from roof burn.
46 channels and aside from the hard work of physically putting things together Plex was a dream.
Once everything was connected I just opened Plex and it saw the homerun and did all the work.
Yes I miss the grid view but this amazing.
I'm going to be watching allot of MeTV. Voyage to the bottom of the ocean and Rockford files were on last night.
Next is removing the 17 or so shopping channels..
Tl;Dr cad is still alive

CADs WAY TO EARLY TO BITCH ABOUT PLEX LIVE TV REPORT
* Channels work pretty well mostly with a bit of pixelation occasionally but because plex doesn't make it clear what channel i'm watching i haven't been able to figure out which are the weak channels
* NO REVERSE. Even when i hit reverse on my remote it fails. I can pause and resume ok but no rewind live tv. could be the uber-cheapo hdhomerun I bought causing the problem and that it doesn't do h.264 compression.
* no channel guide grid. this has already gotten old.
* NO CHROMECAST SUPPORT FOR LIVE TV
maybe they are working on this or maybe its because i dont have an hdhomerun capable of compressing the signal so it can't 'cast' to a remote device but i need to fix this pronto. if not i'm going to buy firesticks for all my TVs since they don't have this problem. anyone know what is up with chromecast support?
* cant really find a way to 'limit' how much space the DVR feature is using or change hard drives. i'll keep digging around in the settings but surely there's a way to set these values.
other than that i'm enjoying this quite a bit!

I fly in to Nashville about six times a year and half of those I drive down to Huntsville. I always stop either coming or going and drive into Franklin for lunch or dinner. Got any places you recommend?

use the free Silicon dust app to test channels if you can't through plex. you can view it on any android device or a pc.
BTW, if you don't need to record:
it would be a secondary app to watch live tv, but may work better than plex.

Live TV pause/FF/RW feature works with all channels including protected channels (Win10 and iOS). Works with all HDHomeRun models including legacy models. DVR account not required to use this feature.

que? i used antennaweb but just 'guessed' on the direction the antenna needed to face.
how does the compass piece work?

is there a 'signal sniffer' type app that gives you a breakdown of the quality of each signal you're getting?
hell i cant even tell what most of the stations are in plex..odd things like 50.8 and 62.6..
i guess i'll just have to cross-reference them with a station guide online somewhere.

i haven't messed with the app's configuration UI lately, but it used to have a signal meter for each tuner.
as far as the channel names you should be able to go to myhdhomerun.com and if the channel names are passed OTA then it should show up on the channel listing.

what would be really cool if there was an app that showed the various strengths of all 46 channels on your phone as you sit on the roof and change the direction of the antenna in real time.
i know its roughly facing the right direction from the antennaweb page but i'm also 100% sure it could be more precise if i knew how to do it.
eta the other thing that may come back to haunt me is the hdhomerun only has 2 tuners. i've already had both going at the same time on multiple occasions. i may upgrade my hdhomerun to a 4 tuner model at some point in the future.

I didnt do that, i put a tv on the coax, tuned it and went to one of the channels in the middle of the pack and went to signal strength. then had my wife sit there yelling at me the % strength as i slowly turned it.

i dont know what that means either. talk to me like i'm 2.
eta and almost all my channels are about to change due to 'fcc repacking' whatever the frick that means.

put a tv on the coax, tun it and put it to the channel you will watch most, then go to settings and get to antenna signal strength. it will be a bar with a % on it.
no go up to the antenna and get someone to tell you when the % changes and you slowly turn your antenna.
