Personal experience or Googled it?

no, I have the Bose ( and they are great BTW)
but for the most part I trust Kinja/Gizmodo - despite their leftist political slant on shite - usually everything I purchase off their recommendations are spot on
If they say that pair beat out the Bose, when it comes to electronics, et al, I trust their judgement. They posted some JBL's yesterday on sale for like $150

Sennheiser has better audio.

What do you want them for?
Bose in ear Noise Cancelling are great and much better for airplanes because it’s easier to sleep with them on. Most people think over ear when they think noise canceling though

I have Bose QC 35 and the Sony MDR's
Sony's by a mile in NC and music quality.
Only thing better about the Bose are their ability to be paired to multiple devices. With the Sony's anytime you want to connect them to another device other than the one you are paired to, you have to go through the pairing process with that device.

Most reviews say that Bose offers the best NC but the new Sony’s have the best sound quality.

Primarily music and streaming video, but also some travel for work so want NC for airplane. Have always preferred sound quality of over ear phones.
Leaning heavily toward the Sony 1000-xm2.
