ATT Uverse Gateway

I've had my ATT Uverse Gateway (modem/router) for about 6 years now, ever since I was able to get their 1000mb/s. Would it be worthwhile for me to contact ATT to have them send me up to date equipment? Does the tech in these Gateways improve after 5+ years? I pay for gigabit internet but get ~100-200mbps through wifi and 400mbps through ethernet.

I keep having the same question. It looks like you're still stuck with the same two options (Pace and Arris), though they seem to be rolling out a new modem in certain areas.
Here's a link to the ATT forum where someone is discussing how to get the new one.

They still use the pace as modern equipment. I talked to a tech about this the other day when I was having service problems.
The only equipment that is newer is a fiber to the box system. So to get that box, they'd have to run fiber through your house to the box. There would be an install fee associated with that and the fiber they use is pretty flimsy. Any kind of significant bump and it will break the fiber and you'll lose service.
