Moving to a new home in BR and planning on getting the AT&T fiber internet 100mbps, (not the 1000mbps) for a 3br 1900 sq ft house. Anyone have this? is it good? bad? etc.

Im thinking about getting it here in San Antonio in March...it's between that and spectrum. The spectrum router they have sucks, garbage wifi one room away but I've got my desktop wired in.

shite 52 ms ping.

I would want to know what up/down and ping

I have ATT. you are limited to use their router. I have done a ton of research and found it is possible to use passthrough mode and get a nighthawk or whatever running gig speeds. I tried for an hour once and was unsuccessful. I didnt have time to trouble shoot.

here are my speeds.

I went into the AT&T router and turned off both wifi radios. Then put your personal router into access point mode. I kept the SSID the same so my devices would link up automatically. Took less than 10 minutes.

This. Speeds are great. The router, however, is one of the biggest nutfilled turds I've ever seen. Constant disconnects and terrible signal strength. Either passthrough to a new router or disable wifi on the Pace and get a good AP, like a Unifi.

Awesome, I had ATT w/o fiber back in BR when it just started and the router was absolute trash. I just bought a new Arris 1600AC I think...and had great signal throughout my apartment.

Glad to know I can pass through into that when I switch. I might try that on this Spectrum router cause it's trash as well.

I’m not very tech savvy. How easy is it to turn off the wifi radios in the AT&T modem and hook up your own router? And does it require a certain type of router since it’s fiber? And is it worth it if you use a $100 router or does it have to be a $300-$400 router to see a major difference?

thats not using passthrough mode. the ATT router is still doing the routing.

Yeah your right, I should have specified I did this for WIFI strength upgrade. Using the Gigabit ports, I have not had any issues with the AT&T routing though.
