Apple TV Slideshow

Does anyone have any luck the slideshow or screen saver on Apple TV?
I have approximately 1000 photos that are shared from my computer (stored locally) and I can view all of them from "Computer" on apple tv. However, when the screen saver comes on - it only shows some (maybe 100) of the pictures.
I researched and found that this is a common complaint and the solution is to view photos utilizing "Slideshow". This seemed to work fine at first but now every time I use it, it just says loading with the pinwheel and never shows pictures.
Any ideas?

The screensaver is limited to 100 photos because it stores all of those images locally on the Apple TV and it only has 8Gb of space.
As far as getting the pinwheel on the slide show, I dunno.

Its been quite a while since I looked at that, but I am pretty sure there is a way to control which photo albums are used for the slide show.
