Apple Pay on Apple Watch no working

Got a new phone. iPhone 13.
Paired my series 3 Watch with it.
Said “not enough storage to pair” at first but then finished pairing. Everything works fine except Apple Pay. My card is on there but it says Card Reader Fail every time I use it at a store.
Any ideas?

Update: got it to work.
I deleted the card off my watch and added it back. Who knew.
