Pros/cons? Just recently purchased one and works well. Seems I need to upgrade internet from 500mb to 1 gig.

I had access to all the football games this weekend. It was the first time using it and it appears to pause/ buffer during live events.

The cause of that is not that you have "only" 500mbit. An HD video stream needs only about 5mbit, you can watch nearly 100 channels at once with what you have.
You have a flaky connection somewhere along the line. Might be the superbox wifi, might be your router, might be your modem, might be the signal coming into your house. But don't pay for more internet speed because what you have is far more than adequate.
Something to try, use a computer or get a ping app on your phone to ping your router (to test your router's wifi). Try both 2.4 and 5ghz. Times should be 1-2ms or less with no spikes. Then figure out the IP of the superbox and ping that. Times should be <5ms with no spikes. Then ping something on the internet (like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8), times should be <40ms with no spikes.
If you see spikes in the times in any of those tests that can help narrow down your issue. And if all that checks out then maybe the superbox isn't so super.
