Can be very useful for travel or family sharing, watching blackout games, or whatever. Sucked when I was out of country and YTTV didn’t work.
The TP Link Decos LIST make great little clients for PPTP or WireGuard if you want a permanent tunnel just for TVs.
Anyone use these as servers? I can run one WireGuard client no problem but I’m not sure they’re up for handling more. Anyone have a cheap and capable server recommendation whether it be software or hardware? Software would likely be Linux but need to include scripting to reboot and come back online.

it is easier to just run a wireguard server on a computer.

I definitely don’t have a streaming TV service at my house, a different one at my father in law’s house and camp, and VPN client/servers with routing rules to direct specific traffic over each specific service and location.

That would violate terms of service.

I have a GL iNet Beryl AX that I use as my portable router away from home. I have an OpenVPN cert loaded to it, so I can access my home net from anywhere I have cell service or another local internet.

I use a GLinet router that has a VPN on it 24/7 for IPTV. When needing to login to my server from outside the house, I use Tailscale.
