Anyone know how to lock an android screen?

So I want to run Hulu live while at work to my headset but I have to keep my phone in my pocket and my leg taps the screen screwing it up. Is it possible to turn it on and then lock the screen so m leg will not hit the screen?

Not sure because I don't have it but it would be called something like background play in the app settings.

Put the phone in your pocket so that the back is touching your leg, not the screen.
